Voacanga africana Rootbark
An evergreen shrub or tree that makes its home in the steamy jungles of Western Africa. The species is closely related to the sacred Iboga plant used extensively in the healing and visionary initiations among the Bwiti people of Gabon.
The rootbark and seeds have a long history of sacramental use and they’ve also been employed by African hunters and drummers as a cerebral stimulant used to bestow tremendous endurance during marathon sessions.
Extracts of the seeds are used in commercial phyto-pharmaceutical production of several interesting cognitive-enhancing compounds.
